Lyca Mobile sits at the budget end of the UK SIM-only market. Plans start at £5 a month, everything runs on EE’s 4G and 5G network, and you can get a 30-day rolling contract with no annual price-rise commitment as well as a lower fee for the first month. However, the trade-off is their customer service has a reputation for being hard to reach, and Trustpilot reviews are mixed.
This page covers what Lyca currently offers, what independent reviewers say, and who it’s actually a good fit for.
What does Lyca Mobile offer?
Lyca Mobile is an MVNO - a virtual network that buys capacity from EE and resells it under its own brand. So you can get EE’s infrastructure without having to pay EE’s direct prices.
Plans at a glance (November 2026):
| Data | Monthly price | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| 5GB | £5 | 30-day rolling |
| 30GB | £10 | 30-day rolling |
| Unlimited | £18 | 24 month |
| Unlimited | £24 | 30-day rolling |
Accurate as of 2 November 2026: the 5GB price from Lyca’s own site, the others from our panel, read live.
All plans except the 5GB plan, which has 1,000 UK minutes and texts, include unlimited UK calls and texts. EU roaming is included free - you get 12GB of roaming data if you’re on any plan from 30GB up to 120GB (5GB on the 5GB plan), or 35GB if you’re on the Unlimited plan.
New customers can currently get 50% off their first month on most 30-day plans (30% off the 5GB plan).

Compare Lyca Mobile dealsWhat network does Lyca Mobile use?
Lyca Mobile runs on EE’s network which is the largest in the UK by 4G coverage. In practice, that means:
- 4G coverage: 99%+ of the UK population (EE)
- 5G coverage: Available at no extra cost if your phone supports it. EE’s 5G is available outdoors at most UK premises; Ofcom puts the best-covered network at around 89% (Ofcom)
- Speeds: EE averaged 53.2 Mbps download across 4G and 5G and 92.2 Mbps on 5G (Opensignal, January 2026)
Being on EE’s network is Lyca’s biggest selling point. You’re getting one of the UK’s best-performing 4G networks for £5–£24 a month, significantly cheaper than EE directly.
What do customers think of Lyca Mobile?
Trustpilot: 3.0/5 rated Average
The reviews split sharply. Around half of customers give five stars; over a third give one star. People who are happy tend to praise the price and the fact it just works. Those who aren’t happy consistently report the same problems: unexpected charges, difficulty cancelling auto-renewals, and customer support that’s hard to reach.
Which? Customer score: Lycamobile scored 68% which ranked 13th out of 15 mobile providers (survey of 5,173 customers, January 2026, published 28 July 2026)
Which? acknowledges Lyca offers “huge amounts of data at very low cost” but found customers don’t feel the low price compensates for the service issues. No provider in Which?’s bottom tier scores well for customer service or reliability with Lyca being in that tier.
The pattern is consistent across both sources: Lyca works well if everything goes smoothly. However, if you ever need to contact them, customers say it can be a frustrating experience.
Does Lyca Mobile have price rise protection?
Yes, Lyca mobile has no mid-contract price rises on their pay monthly contracts, and they have committed to freezing those prices for 2026.
On a 30-day contract you can also cancel with one month’s notice at any time, so you’re not locked in regardless.
Is Lyca Mobile good for roaming?
EU roaming is included on all plans at no extra cost:
- Plans from 30GB up to 120GB: up to 12GB of roaming data in the EU (5GB on the 5GB plan)
- Unlimited plan: up to 35GB of roaming data in the EU
Roaming also covers India on the 75GB, 120GB and Unlimited plans, India up to 35GB, and China on selected 24-month plans. This is notably more generous than some budget rivals.
Outside the EU and those countries, roaming is not included and additional charges apply. Check Lyca’s site for the current roaming destination list before travelling.
Who is Lyca Mobile best suited to?
Lyca is worth considering if you:
- Want the cheapest monthly outgoing possible - £5–£10/month for 5–30GB on EE’s network is hard to beat
- Want no contract commitment - Most plans are 30-day rolling
- Travel in the EU regularly - The included roaming data is very strong for a budget provider.
- Are happy managing your account online - the app and online portal work well for most routine tasks
It’s less suitable if:
- You need reliable customer support as reviews consistently flag this as a problem
- You use a lot of data and want unlimited at a low price. Unlimited starting at £18/month, or £24 without a contract is expensive compared to Three’s unlimited plans at £12.42.
Lyca Mobile vs the alternatives
If price is your main priority, Lyca competes directly with:
- Rewild - runs on the Three and Vodafone networks, unlimited from around £14/month, strong Trustpilot rating
- iD Mobile - runs on Three, 30-day rolling, lower prices and better customer satisfaction scores
- giffgaff - runs on O2, with comparable pricing
The difference between them is mainly customer service and network preference. Lyca gives you EE’s coverage at MVNO prices - but based on Which? and Trustpilot, service when things go wrong is the consistent weak spot.
| Network | Cheapest plan | Cheapest unlimited | Network it runs on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lyca Mobile | £5/month | £18/month | EE |
| Rewild | £7.95/month | £14/month | Three and Vodafone |
| iD Mobile | £6/month | £14/month | Three |
| giffgaff | £6/month | £25/month | O2 |
