EE broadband review
EE is part of BT Group, and its fixed-line broadband runs on the Openreach network - the same infrastructure used by BT, Sky and Plusnet. The EE brand took over Orange's home broadband customers in 2012, two years after Orange and T-Mobile merged, and today sells broadband up to 1.6Gbps.
- EE is best for
- EE mobile customers wanting to bundle broadband and mobile for a saving, and households wanting fast full fibre speeds at a competitive price
- You should think twice if
- Customer service track record matters to you, or you want the cheapest deal available at your postcode - other providers on the same Openreach network may undercut EE on price or have a better switch incentive
MoneyHQ Verdict
EE offers competitive full fibre speeds at a mid-market price point, with packages running all the way up to 1.6Gbps where full fibre is available - making it one of the fastest widely available broadband services in the UK. Like other BT Group providers, it routinely offers switch bonuses and switch credit as a new customer incentive, which may make the cost more attractive for new customers. It is a solid option for existing EE mobile customers, as EE One can save your household up to £20 a month on mobile plans when you have EE broadband.
The main weaknesses are cost, with many newer providers offering a lower price, though they may not be in your area, and annual price rises of £4 per month each 31 March, which add up meaningfully over a 24-month contract.

How much will EE broadband prices rise?
EE increases prices by £4 per month each 31 March for customers who signed up from 6 August 2025 onwards. This is disclosed upfront in pounds and pence, which is a requirement introduced by Ofcom in January 2025.
For example:
- Starting monthly price£23.99 a month
- Price from 31 March 2027£27.99 a month
- Price from 31 March 2028£31.99 a month
The £4 monthly rise is higher than some competitors - Community Fibre charges £3 per month - though BT, Plusnet and Hyperoptic also add £4. Factor this into your total contract cost before signing up.
What will the contract actually cost you?
The monthly price shown in a broadband deal is rarely what you will pay across the full term. Most contracts include scheduled price rises, which means the total cost can be significantly higher than the headline figure suggests.
Take this example: a deal starting at £28 per month in October 2026 would rise to £32 in March 2027 and £36 in March 2028 on a 24-month contract. The advertised monthly price looks like £672 over 24 months - but the true total cost works out closer to £768. That is a £96 difference that will not appear in the headline figure.
Always look at the full contract cost, not just the introductory price, before you sign up.
What broadband speeds does EE offer?
EE offers broadband across both part fibre and full fibre connections depending on availability at your address. Full fibre - also known as FTTP or fibre to the premises - uses fibre optic cable all the way to your home and consistently delivers speeds close to the advertised rate. Part fibre uses copper for the final connection, and speeds can vary based on distance from the telephone exchange.
Its range runs from around 36Mbps up to 1.6Gbps on the packages on our panel today.
Which EE speed do I need?
The right speed depends on how many people and devices share your connection and what you use it for. Rather than automatically going for the fastest EE package available, it is worth matching the speed to how your household uses broadband day to day.
| What you use broadband for | What speed you might need* |
|---|---|
| Solo browsing and streaming | 50-75 Mbps |
| Couple with streaming and video calls | 75-150 Mbps |
| Family home with multiple devices | 150-300 Mbps |
| Home office plus household use | 150-250 Mbps |
| Shared house or heavy usage | 250-500 Mbps |
| Small business basics | 150-300 Mbps |

EE vs BT
EE and BT run on the same Openreach infrastructure, so coverage is similar at any given address, however EE offers speeds up to 1.6Gbps compared to BT's 900Mbps. The best value option between the two will come down to the deal available when you compare. EE's cheapest available deal is currently £23.99 a month for 150Mbps, compared with £23.99 a month for 150Mbps from BT.
EE applies a £4 per month price rise each 31 March, the same as BT, so the total contract cost is comparable, and both providers routinely offer switch incentives. EE's main advantage over BT is the EE One saving for EE mobile customers.
EE vs Sky
EE and Sky both use the Openreach network, with similar coverage. EE's cheapest available package is currently £23.99 a month for 150Mbps, while Sky starts from £15 a month for 0Mbps at your address. Their Ofcom complaints results were close, with 6 complaints per 100,000 customers for EE and 5 for Sky, which Ofcom treats as statistically comparable, however in Which?'s customer survey EE placed higher at 66% vs Sky at 62%.
EE vs Vodafone
EE and Vodafone offer comparable speeds and coverage across most of the UK. EE's cheapest deal is currently £23.99 a month for 150Mbps, compared with £19 a month for 50Mbps from Vodafone. EE recorded 6 complaints per 100,000 broadband customers vs Vodafone at 8 in Ofcom's most recent data.

How we reviewed EE broadband
MoneyHQ's EE broadband review is based on current package information from our broadband comparison panel, EE's published product information, and independent data from Ofcom and Which?. MoneyHQ currently compares broadband deals from 33 suppliers but does not cover the whole market.
We have not carried out our own EE speed tests, router testing or customer satisfaction survey, and we do not currently collect EE customer reviews. Our verdict focuses on the information we can independently assess, including current prices and package data, scheduled future prices, advertised speeds, minimum contract terms, provider terms and conditions, and independent Ofcom complaints data.
Ofcom data checked: Q1 2026, published 23 July 2026. Which? data checked: a survey of 5,235 broadband customers in January 2026, published March 2026.

Frequently asked questions about EE broadband
Is EE broadband any good?
EE is a solid choice if you want fast full fibre and already have an EE mobile, because of the EE One saving. It scored 66% in Which?'s 2026 broadband survey and recorded 6 complaints per 100,000 broadband customers with Ofcom in Q1 2026, in line with the industry average of 6.
How much is EE broadband per month?
EE's cheapest broadband on our panel today is £23.99 a month for 150Mbps. Prices depend on your address, some plans carry an activation fee, and EE adds £4 a month each 31 March, so check the full contract cost before you sign up.
How long is an EE broadband contract?
EE broadband contracts are available on either 12 or 24-month terms depending on the package. Always check the minimum term of the specific deal before signing up - leaving early may involve an early termination charge.
What happens when my EE broadband contract ends?
When your EE contract ends you will move onto a rolling monthly plan at your standard monthly rate. You can change or cancel without an early termination fee and will not lose internet access - though out of contract rates are typically higher than new customer deals, by about £7 a month on average for broadband alone, according to Ofcom.
How do I cancel EE broadband?
EE needs 30 days' notice to cancel your broadband. If you're switching to another provider, One Touch Switch means your new provider arranges the move and EE is told for you. Leaving before your minimum term ends means paying the remaining charges, less the costs EE saves.
Is EE full fibre available at my address?
EE full fibre availability depends on your location - use the address checker above to see which EE packages are available at your property.
Does EE increase broadband prices during the contract?
Yes - EE increases prices by £4 per month each 31 March for customers signing up from 6 August 2025. This is disclosed upfront in pounds and pence when you take out a deal through MoneyHQ. Always check the future price information shown with each deal.
Is EE broadband the same as BT?

Is EE better than Sky or Vodafone?
There is no single answer - it depends on what is available at your address and what you prioritise. EE recorded fewer Ofcom complaints than Vodafone in Q1 2026, while its figure was statistically comparable with Sky's. In Which?'s 2026 survey it scored above Sky and just behind Vodafone.
