Community Fibre broadband review
Community Fibre was established in 2010 with a focus on providing full fibre broadband to Londoners. Fast forward to today, and its network passes around 1.4 million homes. It describes itself as London's largest 100% full fibre only broadband provider.
- Community Fibre is best for
- Shoppers wanting full fibre broadband for the lowest price
- You should think twice if
- You don't live in London, or the parts of Surrey and West Sussex it covers, as Community Fibre may not be available
MoneyHQ Verdict
We think Community Fibre is one of the best full fibre providers for low-cost, high-speed broadband. It says it won't be beaten on price by any of the national providers, and offers 12 or 24-month contracts. It also has competitive speeds ranging from 35Mbps all the way up to 5Gbps on the packages most people buy, plus an 8.5Gbps home package sold by phone. Like most providers, Community Fibre has scheduled price rises: £3 a month each April for in-contract customers, and a one-off £4 a month rise when your contract ends, then £3 a year after that.
Community Fibre scored highly in the Which? customer score, recording 72%, above major competitors like Plusnet (71%), Vodafone (67%), EE (66%) and Sky (62%). Ofcom's quarterly complaints tables only include providers with a stable market share of 1.5% or more, so Community Fibre doesn't appear in its complaints per 100,000 customers charts.
Community Fibre Broadband Pros
- 12 or 24-month contracts, with no set-up fee
- Wide range of speeds from 35Mbps all the way to 5Gbps
- Very high customer score in the Which? survey at 72%
Community Fibre Broadband Cons
- It's a small provider, mainly just in London, plus parts of Surrey and West Sussex
- Monthly price rises every year in April by £3
- TV service runs through Netgem, which is basic and not as good as rivals like Sky or Virgin Media

How much will Community Fibre broadband prices rise?
Community Fibre, like most broadband providers, may increase your monthly price during the minimum term, so it's worth looking at both the starting price and the scheduled price rises before signing up.
For example:
- Starting monthly price£14 a month
- Price from 1 April 2027£17 a month
- Price from 1 April 2028£20 a month
Community Fibre specifies mid-contract price increases with an exact amount because, since January 2025, broadband and telecom providers offering contracts with specified in-contract price rises must tell customers those rises upfront in pounds and pence rather than using an inflation-linked formula.
Community Fibre states a £3 increase every April, making it easy to understand and calculate the cost over the course of the contract.
What will a broadband contract actually cost you?
The monthly price shown in a broadband deal is rarely what you'll pay across the full term. Most contracts include scheduled price rises, which means the total cost can be significantly higher than the headline figure suggests.
Take this example: a deal starting at £25 per month in October 2026 would rise by Community Fibre's £3 to £28 in April 2027 and £31 in April 2028. The advertised monthly price looks like £600 over 24 months - but the true total cost works out closer to £672. That's a £72 difference that won't appear in the headline figure.
What broadband speeds does Community Fibre offer?
Community Fibre runs a wide range of speeds depending on where you live. Since it is a full fibre provider, it can provide speeds anywhere from 75Mbps all the way up to 5Gbps on the packages on our panel, and up to 8.5Gbps on its top package, which is sold by phone.
An advertised broadband speed is an average rather than a guarantee, however because Community Fibre is a 100% full fibre network (FTTP), it doesn't suffer the typical 'drop off' caused by distance from the telephone exchange.
The very top tiers need the right kit at home to reach their full speed: a multi-gig network card or router, rather than the standard Wi-Fi in most laptops and phones.
What Community Fibre package do I need?
The right speed depends on how many people and devices share your connection and what you use it for. Rather than automatically going for the fastest Community Fibre package available, it's worth matching the speed to how your household uses broadband day to day.
| What you use broadband for | What speed you might need* |
|---|---|
| Solo browsing and streaming | 50-75 Mbps |
| Couple with streaming and video calls | 75-150 Mbps |
| Family home with multiple devices | 150-300 Mbps |
| Home office plus household use | 150-250 Mbps |
| Shared house or heavy usage | 250-500 Mbps |
| Small business basics | 150-300 Mbps |

How good is Community Fibre's customer support?
Community Fibre has an excellent track record of customer service, with a 72% Which? customer score, beating all the big names like EE, TalkTalk, Virgin Media and BT. This is accompanied by an 'excellent' Trustpilot rating of 4.8 out of 5 from almost 98,000 reviews at the time we checked. Community Fibre doesn't feature in Ofcom's complaints data, as it is below the market share Ofcom reports on.
How good is Community Fibre TV?
Community Fibre offers a TV service powered by Netgem - a compact streaming box that sits alongside your router and gives you more than 240 live channels, including the Freeview favourites, catch-up and over 30 apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX and YouTube. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are available as paid add-ons.
For light TV users who primarily stream content rather than watch live TV, it may do the job, from £12 a month on a 24-month broadband plan. But it is a long way from what Sky and Virgin Media offer.
Sky Sports and Sky Cinema aren't included, so you'd pay extra on top for them, for example through a NOW add-on, and the Netgem interface is more basic than Sky's or Virgin Media's TV platforms. Live sport in particular is a weakness - fans of the Premier League, Champions League or Formula 1 will still need Sky or TNT Sports subscriptions regardless of which box they use.
Community Fibre TV vs Sky and Virgin Media
- Community Fibre - live channels and streaming apps - limited live sport - lower monthly cost
- Sky - premium live sport and cinema - significantly higher monthly cost
- Virgin Media - wide channel selection - bundled with broadband - premium pricing
If your household watches mainly streaming apps and BBC iPlayer, Community Fibre's broadband speeds at their price point represent significantly better value than paying Sky or Virgin Media's premium for TV features you may not fully use. If live sport or premium TV channels are important, Sky or Virgin Media remain the stronger choice despite the higher cost.

Who is Community Fibre broadband best for?
Community Fibre could be a good broadband provider if you are in London or the parts of Surrey and West Sussex it covers, and favour low prices for top speeds without fancy TV packages. However, it may not be available for everyone, so it's always good to see what options are available and pick the one that suits you best.
Community Fibre may suit you if:
- You want top speeds for a low price: Community Fibre could suit you if you want top speeds without paying high prices, with speeds going all the way up to 5Gbps
- You want full fibre: Where Community Fibre's full fibre is available, you may be able to choose from several speed tiers depending on your household's needs
- You value real life reviews: Community Fibre is rated 'excellent' on Trustpilot with a 4.8 out of 5 rating, alongside being amongst the top in the Which? customer survey
You may want to compare alternatives if:
- You don't live in London, Surrey or West Sussex: If you don't live in one of these areas, it's unlikely Community Fibre is able to bring broadband to you
- You want the top TV package as well: Community Fibre doesn't have as good a TV bundle compared to competitors like BT, Sky and Virgin Media
- Another provider offers a better deal locally: Broadband pricing and availability vary by address - Community Fibre may be good value in one area while another provider offers the better combination of price, speed and contract terms elsewhere
Community Fibre Wi-Fi guarantee
Community Fibre offers a guaranteed minimum Wi-Fi speed delivered to every room in your home.
With its Premium packages, or its WiFi in Every Room add-on on 150Mbps and faster, Community Fibre guarantees at least 50Mbps throughout your property (covering up to 12 rooms, 5 bedrooms and across 3 floors). If they cannot meet that guarantee, you receive 3 months of broadband service completely free of charge.
Most broadband providers advertise a headline download speed measured at the router. Wi-Fi performance typically drops significantly as you move further from the router, through walls and between floors. Community Fibre's room-by-room guarantee directly addresses this - and puts the responsibility on them, not you, if coverage falls short.

Frequently asked questions about Community Fibre broadband
Is Community Fibre good?
Community Fibre scored 72% in Which?'s 2026 broadband survey, ahead of Plusnet, Vodafone, EE, BT and Sky, and is rated 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot. The main catch is coverage: it is available in London and parts of Surrey and West Sussex.
How long is a Community Fibre broadband contract?
Community Fibre offers 12-month and 24-month contracts.
What happens when my Community Fibre broadband contract ends?
When your Community Fibre contract ends, you'll move onto a rolling monthly plan. Your price goes up by £4 a month at that point, then by £3 each April after that. You can change or cancel without an early termination fee and you won't lose internet access - though it's worth shopping around at this point, as out of contract rates are often higher than new customer deals.
Is Community Fibre available at my address?
Community Fibre mainly serves London, plus parts of Surrey and West Sussex, but availability depends on your exact address - use the address checker above to see which Community Fibre packages and speeds are available at your property.
Does Community Fibre use Openreach?
No. Community Fibre owns and runs its own full fibre network, rather than using the Openreach network that BT, EE, Sky and Plusnet use.
Do Community Fibre's broadband prices increase during the contract?
Yes. Community Fibre's current contracts rise by £3 a month each April, and by a one-off £4 a month when the contract ends. When you compare broadband deals with MoneyHQ these will be shown before you take out a deal, including the increase in pounds and pence. Always check the future price information shown with each deal so you know how your monthly cost might change during the minimum term.
Is Community Fibre better than BT, Sky and Virgin Media?
Community Fibre likely beats the big names on speed and price, however it lacks their availability, only providing services in London and parts of Surrey and West Sussex, whereas BT, Sky and Virgin Media cover much more of the UK. Its Premium packages also come with a guarantee of 50Mbps in every room (up to 12 rooms, 5 bedrooms and across 3 floors), with 3 months of broadband free if it can't deliver it.
