Our claims, checked

Every saving we claim, on this site, in the app, on TikTok or in the Friday email, with the sums and the sources behind it. The figures are rebuilt from live data every hour. If the data stops backing a claim, it is marked withdrawn here, with the reason, and we stop making it.

6 of 6 claims standing today. How we check deals

  1. Checked today

Up to £300 for switching your bank account.

From Barclays' own page, checked 24 October 2026.

    To get it
Only £150 is paid for switching and paying in a minimum £2,000 salary within 30 days. The other £150 needs five months of account use, including 10 eligible debit card transactions and £2,000 salary each month.
    Open to most people
Offers only for Premier customers or a minimum income are left out of the headline

Where we say it: Bank switching offers, Barclays switch offer

It stops being true if: The bank withdraws or cuts the offer: the claim follows the record, which is checked against the bank's own page.

  2. Checked today

Regular savers paying up to 8.00% AER.

From Santander's own page, checked 17 October 2026.

    The catch
Needs a Santander current account. The 8.00% includes a 5.00% bonus for the first 12 months, then drops to 3.00%.
    What it really pays
Each monthly payment earns only for the months it is in the account, so about half the headline rate on what you pay in; the regular saver calculator works it out exactly

Where we say it: Regular saver calculator, Savings

It stops being true if: The provider cuts the rate: the claim follows the record, checked against the provider's own page.

  3. Checked today

BT and EE broadband price rises add £156 over a two-year contract.

Checked against our comparison partner's live deals, 24 October 2026.

BT: the rise its deals state
    £4 or £6 a month, each March
EE: the rise its deals state
    £4 or £6 a month, each March
BT: what the rises add over 24 months
£156, the median across its 39 deals that state a rise
EE: what the rises add over 24 months
£156, the median across its 21 deals that state a rise
    How it is added up
A contract started this month, every month at its real price after each rise, less the same months at the starting price

Where we say it: Price rise calculator

It stops being true if: The providers' deals change their rises, or another provider's rises add more.

  4. Checked today

Unlimited data on Three's network for £14 a month, against £31.50 from Three itself.

Checked against our comparison partner's live deals, 24 October 2026.

iD Mobile, which runs on Three's network: cheapest rolling unlimited plan
    £14 a month, one-month contract
    Three: cheapest rolling unlimited plan
    £31.50 a month, one-month contract
    Like for like
Both one-month rolling, both unlimited data, both on Three's network

Where we say it: William's author page, Three SIM only deals

It stops being true if: iD Mobile's cheapest rolling unlimited plan stops being cheaper than Three's own.

  5. Dated

Same iPhone. Up to £1,013 less than the networks' own shops (iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB, unlimited data, two years).

Network prices read by hand on 2 October 2026, from each network's own website. Our deal is read live.

Our deal: iD Mobile, sold by Carphone Warehouse

    £2,178.80, £594.84 more
    Sky: Unlimited Data
    £1,902, £318.04 more
    How it is added up
The whole phone paid off plus two years of unlimited data with no speed cap, every published price rise included

Where we say it: iPhone vs the networks

It stops being true if: Any network's own price drops below ours, or the prices are more than 45 days old.

  6. Dated

Energy bills forecast to rise 26% in January.

A forecast, not a price: the suppliers' own, British Gas, EDF and E.ON, averaged by Uswitch, 21 October 2026. Ofgem confirms the real figure on 25 November 2026.

    The cap today
    £1,723 a year for a typical home, until 31 December 2026
    The independent forecast
    Cornwall Insight: 16% (£1,999), 30 September 2026

Where we say it: Tonight's deals, Energy, Bill Audit

It stops being true if: Ofgem announces the real figure, or the suppliers' forecasts move (we re-read them before Ofgem announces).

Spotted a figure that does not match? Tell us and we will check it again the same day. Providers set their own prices and can change them; their own page is always the final word.
