Our verdict on Lebara

Lebara earns an “Excellent” 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot from over 84,600 reviews which is one of the highest scores of any UK mobile network. In Expert Reviews’ mobile network awards (September 2025 survey), Lebara won Best Value Mobile Network, Most Recommended, and Best for SIM-only contracts: 97% of customers were satisfied with value, and in its Lebara review 90% were happy with their connection speed. It was also highly commended for best overall mobile network.

The trade-off is that Lebara is genuinely no-frills. You get Vodafone’s network at a lower price, but without Vodafone’s VeryMe Rewards, with eSIM only for new customers joining with an iPhone Air, and no access to Vodafone’s 5G+ speeds. Lebara was included in Ofcom’s 2025 Comparing customer service report for the first time, where its customers were more likely than average to recommend it, and it also scores highly on online review forums.

All plans are no contract, rolling 30-day unless you choose 12-month (10% discount). All plans except the 5GB plan, which has 1,000 UK minutes and texts, include unlimited calls and texts.

International calls and roaming

Lebara stands out from most budget networks with international calls including in every one of their plans.

International calls: Every plan includes minutes to over 50 countries. The 5GB and 30GB plans include 100 international minutes, the 50GB plan 500 and the 100GB plan unlimited; the two Unlimited plans offer either 100 or unlimited international minutes. EU roaming: All plans include free roaming across the EU and EEA up to 30GB of data per month. Your UK calls and texts work as normal while roaming in the EU.

India roaming: Lebara also includes free data roaming in India which is unusual for a budget network and particularly useful if you travel there regularly.

Outside the EU: Paid roaming add-ons are available for the US, Australia, Thailand and other destinations. These are not included in the standard price.

Lebara vs Smarty

Smarty runs on the VodafoneThree network with no contract and competitive pricing. Smarty’s Unlimited plan starts from £17/month but doesn’t include international minutes as standard. Lebara wins on international calling whereas Smarty wins on data-heavy use.

Lebara vs VOXI

VOXI (Vodafone’s online brand) runs on the same Vodafone network. VOXI offers “endless social media” data on all its capped plans but costs more. Lebara is cheaper and includes international minutes; VOXI suits heavier social media users.

Lebara vs Lycamobile

Lycamobile is Lebara’s closest competitor also providing cheap, international call focused, no contract. Both run on different host networks (Lebara on Vodafone, Lycamobile on EE). Lebara’s Trustpilot score (4.8) is notably stronger than Lycamobile’s rated at 3 (Average). For most people, Lebara is the safer choice between the two.
