Zopa Biscuit Current Account Review
Zopa is a digital bank with over 20 years of history in UK financial services, starting as a peer-to-peer lender before becoming a fully regulated bank. Its current account, called Biscuit, launched in 2025 and takes a different approach to most high street accounts which instead of giving everyone the same fixed perks, it lets you pick the benefit that works best for you and switch between them whenever your priorities change.
- Biscuit is best for
- People who want a free, flexible account with a meaningful reward they will use and fee-free overseas spending, and are happy managing everything by app.
- You should think twice if
- You need branches, use an overdraft regularly, or want the full Current Account Switch Service to move your Direct Debits automatically.
MoneyHQ Verdict
Biscuit stands out from most free current accounts because it gives free multiple perks like a monthly coffee, fee-free overseas spending and interest on your current account balance. You can also choose one of three benefits, extra interest on your balance, 3% cashback on bills, or 3% cashback on eating out and you can switch between them at any time. Fee-free card spending abroad comes as standard on every account, which puts it ahead of the free accounts at most high street banks including NatWest and Lloyds.
The main caveats are worth knowing before you switch. Zopa does not support the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), which means you will need to move your Direct Debits manually rather than having them transferred automatically. There is also no arranged overdraft so if you regularly dip into an overdraft, Biscuit is not designed for you. There are no branches either, with support limited to in-app chat and phone, Monday to Saturday only.

Biscuit is a single free account with one flexible benefit structure:
Zopa Biscuit current account
The Biscuit account has no monthly fee and no minimum pay-in requirement. When you open it, you choose one of three benefits, and you can switch between them at any time in the app:
- Interest on your balance: 2.75% AER variable (2.72% gross) on your full current account balance, paid monthly. This builds on a 1% AER base rate that all Biscuit customers receive, with an additional 1.75% applied when you choose this option. There is no cap on the balance that earns interest, and no minimum balance required.
- Cashback on bills: 3% cashback on up to £150 of Direct Debit payments per month, worth up to £54 a year. Covers regular household bills paid by Direct Debit such as energy, council tax and broadband.
- Cashback on eating out: 3% cashback on up to £150 a month spent at restaurants, takeaways and bakeries, worth up to £54 a year.
Every Biscuit account also includes the 1% AER base interest on your balance, fee-free card spending abroad, and a free barista-made Caffè Nero drink every month, regardless of which benefit you choose.
Does Zopa Biscuit have a switch offer?
Zopa does not currently run a structured switch offer. Unlike some high street banks, Biscuit does not offer a cash bonus for switching your main current account. Check out our current bank switch offers page to see which banks are currently offering a cash incentive.
No Zopa switch offer is live today
Offers appear and vanish. The banks paying to switch right now are ranked on our bank switching page, and this page will show Zopa's offer again the day one is live.
It is also worth noting that Biscuit does not support the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). You can still switch to Biscuit, but you will need to update your Direct Debits, standing orders and salary manually rather than having them moved automatically within the standard seven working days.
Is the Biscuit interest benefit worth it?
At 2.75% AER variable, Biscuit pays more on your current account balance than most free high street accounts. On an average balance of £2,000, that is roughly £55 a year in interest with no cap and no minimum balance.
The cashback options offer up to £54 a year on bills or eating out. For customers who spend heavily on household bills by Direct Debit and have a lower average balance the bills cashback benefit may return more in practice. The flexibility to switch between all three means you can adapt as your situation changes.
By comparison, NatWest's free Select account pays no interest at all. The NatWest Reward account earns £4/month (£48/year) in Rewards for having two or more Direct Debits, at a £2/month fee, so the net is £24/year before cashback, and you need to pay in £1,250/month to earn the Rewards. For customers who do not meet that threshold, Biscuit's interest benefit is likely to return more on a typical balance.
