Thirteen water companies in England and Wales will repay customers £160 million in the 2025-2026 billing year due to poor performance on pollution and leaks
Key Details of Water Repayments & Compensation (2025-2026):
Total Refunds: Over £160m to be returned to customers via lower bills in 2025/26.
Highest Repayments: Thames Water (£56.8m), Anglian Water (£38.1m), and Yorkshire Water (£36.0m).
Individual Impact: Savings are expected to be less than £10 per customer on average.
Automatic Compensation: As of July 2, 2025, compensation for issues like low pressure increased to up to £250, and severe sewer flooding compensation doubled to £2,000.
